Strong Women Talking Statement to Service Providers

Strong Women Talking workshops are run in a group setting environment and deliver culturally appropriate prevention focused workshops and programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children in communities. With Indigenous grass roots facilitators delivering programs in a safe and therapeutic form the workshops aim to break the multi-generational cycle of family and domestic violence once and for all.

Strong Women Talking also provide confidentiality forms for participants to read and sign before commencement of the workshop. It is very important to us that each participant can gain the most from each workshop and the program as a whole. We understand that for this to occur it is highly beneficial if the client you are referring is workshop ready and able to participate in a group setting effectively. What this might look like;

  1. You have worked with and observed client and believe they are ready to start their healing journey

  2. Client is comfortable in group settings

  3. Client will participate in the program for 3 months or longer

We value your knowledge and experience and the current relationship you have with each individual client and therefore would ask that you use this judgement when considering any potential clients for referral. It is very important that Strong Women Talking are made aware prior to the workshop if your client is suffering from any medical conditions or mental health illnesses. Please ensure your client has disclosed all relevant medical illnesses on their client registration form. Strong Women Talking maintain all rights to refuse registration of clients if we believe the referral to be inappropriate and your client not ready to participate in group work. Please note that if a client has started in a workshop / program and then facilitators identify they are not yet group ready, we will contact you within 48 hours of identifying and talk with yourself and your client to see if they would like to work with Strong Women Talking facilitators to become workshop ready, perhaps starting at another point of the program e.g. Yarning Circles and Art Therapy.

If you have read all of the above statements, the attached program outline and would like to referyour client to our workshops and programs, then please complete the registration payment form on page 2.
